Black Horse - 28 : 19 - Cambourne Exiles

Cambourne fight hard but loose out to home advantage

A tough game for Cambourne today, against an unknown opposition. Cambourne were missing several regular key players but were buoyed by some new recruits.

The big old Black Horse boys took advantage of the wind in the first half, scoring tries to give themselves a clear lead. Smith kept the hopes of Cambourne alive, but a further closing of the points gap was ruled out by Black Horse's 16th man on the pitch!

Cambourne's best move of the match saw the ball pass through many pairs of hands before finding it's way to Sharman, who easily carved up the defense to score under the posts. Cambourne kept their cool as tempers began to stretch. The Exiles had the presence of mind to play to the whistle following a long kick ahead by Lisher which clearly stayed in play despite the home sides protests. As the Black Horse winger went to sleep, new recruit Steve Johnson capitalised to score on his debut.

Despite a late revival from Cambourne, the spoils went to Black Horse. On reflection, a deserved victory which would have been sweeter still without the extra help from the man in green.

Tries : Smith, Sharman, Johnson S.
Conversions : Lisher 2
