Bishops's Stortford 5's - 14 : 22 - Cambourne Exiles

Cambourne turn the screw in second half revival.

After battling with the traffic on the southbound M11, Cambourne faced the onslaught of Bishop's Stortfords 5th XV in the first half of the match. With little going their way, the Exiles found themselves 2 converted tries down by the whistle. The words of Capt Yeats and Coach Skinley at the break must have stirred things up and Cambourne started the second half looking like a different team!

Playing effective rugby turned things around for Cambourne. Solid work in the scrums and lineouts provided a platform for the team to launch a stream of attacks. With some superb running, passing and ball-retention at the breakdown, Cambourne played in a way not seen for a few weeks. Confidence with ball handling and passing in close quarters meant that the Exiles were able to keep play moving.

A notable team performance throughout the half led to opportunities for Wallis, Smith, Sharman and Harlow to clear the defence and score tries. Dreuitt needs to practice his kicking (almost as much as his navigation!) after missing a conversion right in front of the posts, but was able to push the score out to seal a 14:22 win on the final whistle.

Tries : Wallis, Smith, Sharman, Harlow
Conversions : Dreuitt
