Cambourne Exiles - 110 : 0 - Shelford 5
New Shirts and Win !

(Awaiting full match report and photos)

On Saturday October 10th, Cambourne Rugby Club hosted our first Sponsors Day to unveil the new club match shirts and to thank our sponsors for their support. We thank Duncan and the Monkfield Arms for hosting a pre-match breakfast for friends and players and for their generous support as shirt sponsors. We also welcome Elms Cambridge BMW to the club as shirt sponsor and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the area’s authorised BMW dealers. Also in attendance were Keith & Maggie from KCars, and Simon from RisingHighDiscotheque. The club express grateful thanks for their continuing support and friendship.

After the hearty start to the day in the pub, everyone reconvened later out on the pitch for a Greene King X.X. Deuxieme Merit Table game against Shelford 5th XV. As well as donning the shiny new match shirts, Cambourne took to the field sporting pink socks to support player Mark Kathro in his bid to raise funds for Cancer Research by running 10km around Jesus Green on 18th October. Was it the breakfast, was it the new match shirts, or was it the pink stockings? Who knows, but Cambourne were runaway winners, notching up a club record 110:0 victory over an albeit depleted Shelford side. Yes, that is correct - one hundred and ten : nil ! Yes, that is correct – victory! What a scoreline for the first win of the 09-10 season.
