Club Disciplinary Policy and Procedures

Disciplinary Committee

Purpose – To promote and encourage fair play on the Rugby Pitch

Implemented and Enforced by the Club Disciplinary Committee
All RFU and ECRU procedures supersede those listed here


Yellow Card Offences
  • As soon as possible, the player will make a written statement of events to the Chairman of the Club Disciplinary Committee.
  • The Club Disciplinary Committee will convene as soon as possible to rule on the incident.
  • Penalty - Mandatory Club Fine - £10, increasing to a maximum of £30 at the discretion of the Club Disciplinary Committee depending on the offence
  • Yellow card incidents will be reported to the CB and RFU via the referee, to be recorded. This may incur further sanction and financial penalty (payable by the player on top of any fine imposed by the club.)


Sending Off Offences
  • As soon as possible, the player will make a written statement of events to the Chairman of the Club Disciplinary Committee.
  • The Disciplinary Committee convenes to make a preliminary decision on the incident.
  • Penalty – Mandatory Match Ban – 1 game minimum, increasing to RFU maximum sanction, and a Mandatory Club Fine - £25, increasing to a maximum of £75, both at the discretion of the Club Disciplinary Committee depending on the offence
  • Once the referees report, the players’ statement and other evidence are received by the club, the Disciplinary Committee convene to rule on the incident. All statements received, and the committees’ decision will then be passed on to the ECRU Disciplinary Panel for their consideration.
  • Red card incidents will be reported to the CB and RFU via the referee, to be recorded. This may incur further sanction and financial penalty (payable by the player on top of any fine imposed by the club.)
